The Key to Workout Motivation

HIS

Men's Shorts: Adidas (only $19) || Shirt: Nike Legacy Performance Top || Baseball Cap || Running Shoes: ASICS || Athletic Briefs: c/o Slix

HERS

Nike Pro Capri || Tank: Nike Dri-Fit  || Shoes: similar

When it comes to staying motivated to get or stay in shape, the most important aspect that comes to mind is comfort.  Comfort is key when trying to maintain a fitness schedule and/or healthy lifestyle. These Nike Pro Capri pants are my go-to whenever I get home from work.  They are slimming, comfortable, and I feel like I could run miles in them.  As far as running shoes go, I've always been a big fan of Asics for their price and quality (and I don't hate that they keep coming out with even better colors each year).

You also may have noticed a new blog model up in those pics and that is my boyfriend, TJ, who so graciously let me take some photos of him and our dog, Colbie.  When I asked what his workout "go-to's" were, he also mentioned the importance of comfort. There are times when he is working out and there is nothing worse than having to pull up his shorts constantly or having a broken draw string. His favorite pair of shorts he has are the Adidas Climalite shorts and he loves his Nike Dri-Fit shirts which are perfect for any kind of work out. You can take them for a long run in the summer sun or wear them while lifting weights at the gym.

TJ says the most important aspect to his workout gear is something he recently received from Slix. This underwear is specifically geared toward active men for use during workouts, during beach/pool trips, and even just daily life.  They are made for performance and are made of the most high-tech fabric, created for comfort and confidence.  These form fitting briefs came just in time for a 10 mile race he ran in April and he couldn't stop talking about how comfortable they were through the entire run.  He swears by them now and uses them every day.  If your man in your life has a birthday or anything coming up, I would highly suggest getting him some Slix.  Use the code "sv0515" for 20% off your order! I'm not kidding when I say he won't be able to stop talking about them. The quality and comfort is unmatched.  So, check out their website and facebook page.

5 Pieces of Advice for Graduates

It's Graduation Weekend for a bunch of girls I know and I can't believe it has been 3 years since I've graduated.  This year is particularly exciting to me because the girls who I helped mentor in my sorority, as VP of Member Education, are now graduating.  They were just babies and I can't believe it is time for them to start new chapters in their lives.  I thought I would write up some words of advice that I've learned over the past 3 years that will hopefully help all those graduating to live your happiest post-college life.

1. Don't waste your thoughts on comparison.
I was the worst when it came to this for a while.  My dream for years was to become a dentist and I just kept telling myself, "wow, if this doesn't work out, I am going to be SO behind everyone else on a career plan".  Well, your interests can come and go and your passions can evolve.  If you don't strive for your dream while it's within reach, you may always think "what if" later in life.  That, to me, would be the worst.  So, not everyone is meant to go to law school and medical school after college.  You will continue to learn and develop your own skills and talents, and your true aspirations may develop a little bit later than other people's.  You will eventually learn that happiness is the most important aspect of life and if you aren't truly happy, your life won't feel fulfilled.  So, do what you love, don't compare yourself to other people's lives, and realize that sometimes it may take a couple years to be able to "do what you love".

2. Remember to make room in your life for your friends.
You may be thinking, "Obvs I'm going to keep in touch with my friends, we see eachother every day!"  Your friends will eventually get into relationships and will get married and everyone will lead very busy lives.  You'll be tired after a long day of work and want to just want to sit on the couch or you'll feel like you have other things that are important, like exercise.  You'll have to actually make an effort to see your friends even if your dinner dates get postponed five times.  I would highly suggest a monthly or bi-weekly get-together with whom you want to stay in touch.  A bunch of girls from college and I have a monthly "supper club" which is perfect.  We go to a different girl's house each month and drink wine, eat, and catch up on eachother's lives.  Pretty much ALL (minus like 3) friends of mine are married and everyone's life is busy, so it's really important to plan a time in advance where you can catch up. You will soon realize who your "constants" are in your life and it will be important for you to make room for them on your schedule.  You also will meet a whole new set of people and might even make some new best friends!

3. Surround Yourself with Positivity
If you get into a situation that is destroying your happiness, don't be afraid to press the delete button on that **** and find something new.  Whether that be a job where you are treated poorly or a relationship that is going nowhere, get rid of it.  You don't need that negativity in your precious life and there are always other opportunities.  You are a fresh baby that has emerged out of the birthing canal of college and there are jobs where you could be happier and people who would treat you better.  Change while your young before you waste too much time of your life on something that is undeserving.

4. Remember That You're Still Young
Don't get caught up in asking yourself why you aren't married, why you're not in a relationship, why you're not making a ton of money yet.  Repeat after me: I am still young.  You are right where you are meant to be.  Each little stepping stone teaches you something and moves you a little further in reaching your goal.  Whether those stepping stones are a tiny little pebbles (like some of mine have been), it is still a stepping stone, and you are still learning from each experience. You aren't going to get out of college and then immediately become a Director of _______ at your dream company.  Life doesn't work that way.  You'll work towards your goals each day and enjoy each moment along the way.

5. Care Less About What Other People Think
You will quickly learn to not care about what others think and you'll realize how much more happiness you'll have when you do this.  Not everyone enjoys the same things and you shouldn't feel ashamed if you don't have "normal" interests. I learned to ignore rude or snarky comments and just do what interested me.  Be yourself and don't be afraid to take up a new hobby you've always wanted to learn too!

Well, those are my five best pieces of advice I've learned over the past 3 years.  I hope you have the BEST graduation weekend and get excited for what the next chapter in your life as in store.  Don't be sad for this is just the beginning of a something amazing!

Black and White

Shoes: Adrienne Vittadini (SO comfortable) || White Denim Pants: Topshop || Black and White Patterned Tank || Gigi New York Carly Clutch in 'Desert Rose' || Sunglasses || Kendra Scott 'Perry' Necklace || Kendra Scott 'Kiri' Necklace

These white denim pants are the most comfortable pair of denim I've owned.  I've been looking for a higher-waisted pair of white denim that wasn't too expensive for a while and these were the best ones I could find that met all of my white pants criteria: sits high on the waist (these are REALLY high), stretchy but high quality, and have the perfect length.  The sizing runs smaller than usual though so order like 2-3 sizes up... no joke.  Anyways, you can never go wrong with black and white for any time of year.  I'm loving black, white, and a pop of color too with this Gigi New York Carly Clutch. Let me fill you in on a little secret.  Have you heard of Rent the Runway?  Of course you have because I talk about it all the time. :) Well, they have a new(ish) Unlimited option where you get to use unlimited bags, jewelry, and dresses for one monthly price.  I personally think its the best idea because I get tired of my bags after a while. After a few months, I end up wanting something new resulting in a closet full of lower quality bags that I never use again.  If you're interested, check it out on their website

I've been trying to stick to a workout regimen lately and it's been killing me.  I've been fairly consistent but each morning I feel like I can't move.  I've been using Kayla Itsine's program and am on week 8.  I'll review it in more detail on an upcoming post and let you all know my thoughts.

Thanks for stopping by!

Mint Sheath

Chambray Shirt (really love this one too) || Mint Sleeveless Sheath Dress (c/o French Connection) || Handbag || Wedges (under $50) || Necklace: sold out from Ann Taylor/ most similar || Sunglasses

Back in March, I tried on this Mint Sleeveless Sheath Dress at a local French Connection event and it became my favorite spring dress instantly.  The material is super stretchy but still well-made to wear all season long.  The color definitely caught my eye but it was the structure that I really loved.  Slimming, bright, and top quality... those are three words that can commonly describe FC clothing.

I hope it was a great weekend for everyone.  It was absolutely beautiful and could not feel any more perfect outside.  I had Mexican food both nights which made my weekend even more perfect.  By the way, does anyone have any REALLY good simple margarita recipes? I would love to know.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to enter this Rebecca Minkoff Giveaway.

Kendra Scott Love

April was a busy month for everyone I think.  Spring starts and suddenly there is a fun event every other day, a gorgeous outdoor wedding, or dinner on patios in the 70 degree weather with friends.  I love this time of year.  I went to two really fun blogging events in April and they both happened to be at the same place... Kendra Scott in Durham.  I'm not going to lie.  When I first heard about Kendra Scott maybe 1 1/2 years ago, I thought, "60 bucks for a pair of earrings?" but that thought quickly changed after I found my first pair on sale at Nordstrom and discovered how great of quality they are.  They are not just fashionable necklaces and earrings... these actually last and complete all my outfits.

Superb quality and unique options in almost every color you can imagine?  I'm sold.  No, really though... so many color options to choose from and so many styles.  Kendra Scott also has a really cool event planning team.  They will host multiple events each week including events to help raise money for charities (in store and out of store) which I thought was pretty cool.  I could seriously go on and on about how much I love this brand but I'll let you check them out for yourself.  I've also shared my favorite pieces below.

As for the Southern Blog Society and Raleigh Blog Society meet-ups, I had a blast.  It's a really cool moment when you finally meet someone you have spoken with on the phone for hours, follow on instagram (sounds silly), and text but have never met in real life.  My friend Taylor Rae (Style Souffle) and I met and it was so much fun! I also got to see my sweet Zelle again (Southern Style) along with the hosts for the night, Emily (Life with Emily) and Nikki (Bedazzles After Dark) whom I adore. I'll be visiting Charleston with a bunch of these ladies in June and I can't wait.

PS: There is a fun giveaway in the post below so don't forget to check it out! You can win a gorgeous Rebecca Minkoff bag and wallet.  You can also click here for details.
