Gifts for Moms

Today is my favorite woman's birthday so I thought I'd do a post about gift ideas for your mom, grandma, bff, etc.  I love treating my mom to a great gift because there is no other person who has done SO much for me.  If anyone deserves a special day, it's moms and dads. I like to give a really thoughtful gift, something I know she would love but maybe wouldn't ever find herself.  Personally, my mom loves cooking, wine, turquoise, running, and working in the yard.  One of my favorite gift ideas lately is this state cutting board from A Heirloom where you can find ANY state shape.  These would be a great wedding gift too! Shop the links below if you're on the look out for a gift idea.

Oh! Today I am also taking over the instagram account, @TheBlogBaton! This is an account where a different blogger holds the "baton" each day so you can get to know a little bit more about them.  The girl who started it, Mason, from the blog Mason...Like The Jar has one of the cutest blogs I've ever read and is from Raleigh, NC! Anyways, follow along today @TheBlogBaton!

Ain't Nothing But A Houndstooth

Happy Monday!

I'm trying to be a little more positive about Mondays these days.  I try and have something each Monday to look forward to whether it be a fitness class, tv show, or cooking my favorite food.  I'm thinking today it may be a nice walk or jog with my dog since this weather forecast is looking quite perfect all week.

One of my friends, Taylor-Rae of Style SoufflĂ©, and I have teamed up to share our ways of incorporating houndstooth into our wardrobe.  Go follow her on instagram and check out her gorgeous pictures and great style.  Taylor-Rae and I have so much in common and she's given me some great life-advice these past couple months.  Plus, her home office is seriously to die for.  Houndstooth is one of our favorite prints because with black and white, it can go with just about anything... it's a neutral for sure. You can dress it up or down and it will always have a very classic look.  In this look, I paired it with a chambray top and the most comfortable black booties (less than $40) to go for a more effortless fall transition look.  I am also loving jersey pencil skirts lately... they're super comfortable and versatile.  I'll link up some of my favorites down below.  Enjoy your last official week of summer!

September Hues

My favorite time of year is here! September always means a few things to me: a lot of birthdays, football, and a teensy bit cooler weather.  We're still waiting on that cooler weather but all of my favorite stores have started selling their fall items which gets me even more antsy.  Fall clothing makes me happy because with more layering, comes more creativity.  Layering a chambray shirt under a sweater, wearing endless options with a vest, or mixing plaid shirts with other patterns (like I've done in today's post) are just a few options to get more seasonal use out of your clothes you already have!

Get this look for WAY less!

It has been far too long since I've walked into Vestique and I feel like I hit the jackpot on my trip there today. I immediately fell in love with this cobalt ruffle off-the-shoulder dress that I had seen recently at Revolve Clothing for almost $100 more! I couldn't believe how identical these two dresses were, yet so different in cost! Not to mention, Vestique's accessories are on point right now, such as this "Fringe Benefits Necklace" which is only $21.50.  I put together a "look for less" below where you can see a very similar outfit with some not so similar prices (over $500 difference).   I've linked all the items below the picture for you to shop!

Tailgating with Tracy

Tailgating and football is without a doubt one of the best parts about fall.  Friends, good food, hours outside in the sunshine, lugging a cooler around with refreshing beverages... it's really a magical activity. With less than 20 days left until tailgating season, I wanted to share with y'all a little game day sale secret.  If you haven't heard of Tracy Negoshian, you should definitely head over to her website and browse through her HUGE sale selection! She has the best game day dresses and they are ALL on sale.  It is insane how much they are marked down.  Her patterns are unique, stylish, classy and come in all of your typical "team colors". Pair a Tracy dress with cowboy boots and call it a day.  I ordered this dress over a year ago and it is still on sale in several sizes.  I've linked all the outfit info underneath the photos for you to shop for the best time of year.
