DIY Corkboard
I've been thinking about a way I could make my desk space a little more unique and classic without adding too much... Well, I thought of something! Have you ever realized how dull a regular bulletin board looks? I don't know why there aren't cuter ones sold in stores but not to fear... gold spray paint saves the day again! I decided to go with simple thick gold stripes and added a little motivational word down at the bottom. I already had some gold spray paint, as well as white paint from a painting my nightstands recently, so this saved a lot of money.

Gifts for Moms
Today is my favorite woman's birthday so I thought I'd do a post about gift ideas for your mom, grandma, bff, etc. I love treating my mom to a great gift because there is no other person who has done SO much for me. If anyone deserves a special day, it's moms and dads. I like to give a really thoughtful gift, something I know she would love but maybe wouldn't ever find herself. Personally, my mom loves cooking, wine, turquoise, running, and working in the yard. One of my favorite gift ideas lately is this state cutting board from A Heirloom where you can find ANY state shape. These would be a great wedding gift too! Shop the links below if you're on the look out for a gift idea.
Oh! Today I am also taking over the instagram account, @TheBlogBaton! This is an account where a different blogger holds the "baton" each day so you can get to know a little bit more about them. The girl who started it, Mason, from the blog Mason...Like The Jar has one of the cutest blogs I've ever read and is from Raleigh, NC! Anyways, follow along today @TheBlogBaton!

Ain't Nothing But A Houndstooth
I'm trying to be a little more positive about Mondays these days. I try and have something each Monday to look forward to whether it be a fitness class, tv show, or cooking my favorite food. I'm thinking today it may be a nice walk or jog with my dog since this weather forecast is looking quite perfect all week.
One of my friends, Taylor-Rae of Style Soufflé, and I have teamed up to share our ways of incorporating houndstooth into our wardrobe. Go follow her on instagram and check out her gorgeous pictures and great style. Taylor-Rae and I have so much in common and she's given me some great life-advice these past couple months. Plus, her home office is seriously to die for. Houndstooth is one of our favorite prints because with black and white, it can go with just about anything... it's a neutral for sure. You can dress it up or down and it will always have a very classic look. In this look, I paired it with a chambray top and the most comfortable black booties (less than $40) to go for a more effortless fall transition look. I am also loving jersey pencil skirts lately... they're super comfortable and versatile. I'll link up some of my favorites down below. Enjoy your last official week of summer!
