Chambray Pants

Black and White Tank || Chambray Pants 25% off with code 'FRIEND' || Leather Wrap Watch (without studs) || Sunglasses || Wedges: via Marshalls; very similar || Handbagsmaller version || Kendra Scott 'Kiri' Necklace || Kendra Scott 'Perry' Necklace || Gold Bracelet || Lip color in 'plumful' lustre || Earrings

The comfiest pants award goes to J. Simpson.  Cue the song "I Think I'm in Love With You" by her because I think I am in love with these pants.  They are the softest and most laid back yet stylish pair of pantelones I've seen.  Plus, they're on sale now if you use the code 'FRIEND'.  Macy's is having their Friends and Family sale now so it's the perfect time to stock up on all your J. Simpson pieces ;) No, but really.  Have you SEEN these beautiful wedges? and this maxi?

Anyways, click here for a major throwback.

Blue Peplum

Floral Peplum Tank (only $16 and available in all sizes) || High-waisted White Denim Pants || Leather Wrap Watch (without studs) || Sunglasses || Wedges: via Marshalls; very similar || Handbagsmaller version || Kendra Scott 'Kiri' Necklace || Kendra Scott 'Perry' Necklace || Gold Bracelet || Lip color in 'plumful' lustre || Earrings

I had a few days off work last week and naturally spent one of those afternoons visiting Nordstrom, where I found this stunning peplum floral tank on the clearance rack.  Shockingly, it is still available online too in multiple sizes for only $16 (I'm wearing a medium).  This top will for sure be on repeat this summer.  I also found my new favorite year-round lip color in "plumful- lustre" which is the perfect plum shade suitable for all seasons.

Guess what tomorrow is?! My sweet dog, Colbie (aka Colbersons, Colbs, Colbasindog, Clobs) will be 4 years old tomorrow. Just a big 4 year old piece of chocolate pie.  Where has the time gone?

Embroidered Chambray

Dress (on waitlist now) mine is XS/runs big; also love this colorful one || Shoes: Adrienne Vittadini || Similar tassel necklace, also LOVE this one ||  Watch (without studs) || Clutch || Earrings || Kendra Scott 'Perry' Necklace

A spring trend I've seen a lot of lately is embroidered chambray.  How do you feel about it?  I personally love the simplicity and versatility of it.  This embroidered dress I'm wearing in this post is under $30 and super comfortable.  It runs a little big though and currently has a waitlist but it is worth the wait! I paired mine with an old tassel necklace but have been keeping my eye on this one

I hope everyone had a good week.  I can't wait to get some more outfit posts up! The weather the past few weekends mixed with my schedule has taken a toll on the blog posts but hopefully that will change soon.  April showers bring May flowers right? There better be a lot of dang flowers next month.

Have a happy weekend and thanks for stopping by Pretty in the Pines!

Mother's Day DIY Ideas

Mother's Day is sneaking up on us and if you're like me, you may have procrastinated in the past with getting a thoughtful and meaningful gift for your mom resulting in a gift certificate to a nail salon (ain't nothing wrong with that though).  This year, I really want to try and do a DIY gift because I know she will love that it came from the heart.  (But hey, if you're not crafty-- I think ALL moms would love these earrings.) Of course, Pinterest is my go-to for these types of situations.  I like to think I am creative but sometimes the best ideas are derived from Pinterest and changed up a bit with some true originality. So today I put together some of my absolute fave ideas I found online that were featured on other blogs.

How cute are these?  I'm thinking of maybe doing them with a big wine bottle instead.  I just love anything that has to do with pictures that will last forever.

Flowers and moms are like peanut butter and jelly.  There just isn't a mom that doesn't like flowers, right?! These confetti flower pots are too cute.

Who doesn't love to have a treat yo'self day every once in a while? One of my best friends, Sara, and I are guilty of having them way too often.  I love this spa basket idea with all of the little treat yo'self essentials in one tin.  I'd probably add a mini wine bottle to the mix along with some yummy snacks and some pretty mini nail polishes.  I also love this idea because one of my favorite childhood memories is getting manicures and pedicures with my mom.  True fact: I became an entrepreneur at age 8 and opened up a "business" called "SSC" (Shelby's Shopping Center) where I offered services to my customers (aka my mom) including manis, pedis, veggies I grew out of my own garden... that happened.  I had business cards.

Who doesn't need magnets?  Why not have them be meaningful?  These magnets are the cutest things ever and I may just make a set for myself too.

Over the holidays last year I made these wine bottle decorations by wrapping them with yarn.  They turned out great and since then, I've really wanted to make some for other people as a gift.  I used Christmas colors at that time but for Mother's Day, I would definitely use some natural looking twine, maybe some white or pastel yarn, and make them a year-round decoration.  I've also wanted to wrap a Patron bottle because it's a really unique shape.  When I do these, the more variety I have makes the finished product look way better.

Aren't these colors so pretty for spring?  I can definitely see them on top of the window sill in the kitchen at my mom's house.  Just get her some fresh flowers and arrange them in these pretty jars.  I might even make some of these for my own place.

I hope you liked some of these and maybe got some inspiration for Mother's Day.  Let me know if you have any other DIY ideas for the occasion.

Floral to the Max(i)

Dress: in a different color online (only $18 though) || Watch || Ring: customized via Kendra Scott Color Bar || Clutch: Gigi New York || Shoes: Isola (old) very similar here || Panama Hat || Necklace: Kendra Scott 'Perry' || Bracelet

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Mine was very, very relaxing and was just what I needed. I basically just ate a bunch of snacks, cheered my boyfriend and mom on in a 10-mile run, and made a few trips to Target (not for #TargetforLilly ... bless all of those brave souls).  I've had weekends packed with events and things to do for the past month or so but this one was completely free of plans and wonderful.  I did get to see one of my best friends though who introduced me to my latest obsession... Kate Spade sunglasses.  Thanks, Erin. These are next on my summer wish list, along with these beauties.  I then moseyed on over to the Gucci section and discovered these beautiful pieces of plastic.  *looked at price tag* *moseyed back to Kate Spade*. Maybe one day. Anyways, we all made plans to see Eric Church together this week and I absolutely cannot wait.

This maxi I'm wearing in this post is $18... yep, eighteen doll hairs.  I've also linked a few other "tropical-esque" maxis below that your wallet will seriously thank you for.  Couldn't you just live in these...? You can't find anything more comfortable and versatile for warm weather.

"Mint" to Wear Floral

Blouse: LC Lauren Conrad || Shoes: Adrienne Vittadini || Jeans (under $30!) || Sleeveless Blazer: via Marshalls; similar || Necklace: Kendra Scott || Gold Bracelet || Bag: similar

These skinny pants are everything. Everythang. They are also under $30, are SO comfortable, and come in just about every color.  The material isn't really your typical "denim" though.  They're definitely stretchier than denim but in my opinion, don't look cheap.  I paired these with a floral LC Lauren Conrad (seriously, check these gorgeous prints out) top.

All this rain lately is really getting in the way of taking blog photos.  These photos were actually taken right after a torrential downpour which really makes the lighting rather unique (doesn't the road look silver almost?).
