Livin' in Linen

Do you remember glittery jelly sandals?  Scrunchies? Inflatable chairs? There are a few things that come to mind when I think about fads or fashion that went out of style.  If there are two things in my closet that will never go out of style, it is this J. Crew linen skirt and a white neck-tie blouse.  THe skirt can be worn for a good part of the year and with pretty much any shirt ever made.  My boyfriend calls all of my neutral clothing "bland" but I like to think of it as classic neutrals that you can spruce up with some colorful accessories which will always be in style!

I had one of the busiest but best weekends this past weekend.  I'll share more details about it later this week but lets just say I am obsessed with the girls from French Connection and you should definitely follow them on instagram if you don't already.  I hope everyone has a great start to the week!

Throwback Dress

You may be wondering why I'm posting these pictures that were taken last year in a dress that is no longer available. #TBT. Well, Nordstrom actually has this same dress (see below) but in a different pattern this season and although the colors of this older dress were beautiful, it's actually the style of the dress that led me to purchase it.  First of all, I love the look of a wrap dress and how flattering it is.  Secondly, this flowy high-low style dress with short sleeves is really a unique look that you don't see very often.  It's flirty yet classy and conservative.

While looking through some old photos on my computer last night, I learned (besides the fact that I'll never cut my hair again) that I never really posted about this dress even though I planned on it.  So, I thought it would be the perfect throwback for today since Nordstrom is back with the dress! You can  also click the image below to bring you to the website.

Business Stripes

Striped Sleeveless Dress  c/o French Connection || Handbag || Blazer: Cynthia Rowley; similar (under $30) || Infinity Scarf from HandPicked || Shoes: Similar

I posted about this striped sleeveless dress last week (you can see it here) with a more casual look but this week I dressed it up a bit.  This dress is so versatile and such great quality.  I can definitely see myself wearing it a few other ways including a button down chambray or linen shirt tied over top of it.  Last night, I even wore it with a sweater for a comfortable and casual look.  Maybe one day I will stop wearing this dress... but probably not.

Don't forget to RSVP and stop by Belk at Crabtree this Saturday to see myself and a couple other NC bloggers (Zelle and Emily) along with the newest collection of French Connection. We'll also help you style a cute outfit! I'll be there until about 1:30 and then heading to one of my friend's weddings!

Teal & Floral

Blazer (under $35!) || Suede Boots || Floral Ruched Dress (less than $50) || Sunglasses || Earrings || Clutch <-- love that color || Turquoise and Gold Bracelet || Watch c/o HandPicked (love this one

I mentioned in the last post that this past Sunday was spent celebrating Founder's Day and Groundbreaking for the sorority I joined in college, Delta Gamma.  Because I graduated a few years ago, it was really fun getting to see so many people I haven't seen in a while.  I got to see an old roomie of mine, who now lives in NYC, and it made me so happy! As for my outfit, I saw this floral ruched dress online and the colors and pattern screamed SPRING.  The weather this week has actually been really weird so I paired it with light suede boots and I surprisingly loved the way it turned out! It will be freezing in the morning and then really nice and warm in the afternoon so I can't ever decide what shoes to wear these days.  Soon it'll be wedge and sandal weather and it'll be a no brainer.

FYI- This nail polish is my absolute favorite color for this time of year.  Such a fun and unique shade.

Have a great day! Thanks for reading.

Spring Denim

Boyfriend Jeans || Blouse: old from Vestiquesimilar || Sleeveless Blazer: found at Marshalls, similar style here Rebecca Minkoff Crossbody M.A.C. bag | Sunglasses | Turquoise Bracelet Lip Stain in 'Mauve-a-lous Darling" | Shoes: TJ Maxx, similar

How is it already Monday?!  I can't believe how fast the weekends have been going by lately.  I am trying to save up as much vacation time as possible for the summer so until then, I should probably just get used to short weekends and long weeks. I have some fun trips planned in May, June, and August though! Yesterday, I attended Delta Gamma's Founder's Day with a bunch of friends I haven't seen in a while and it was the best time ever.

Anyways, I think these jeans are one of my favorite pairs I've owned simply because of how many different ways you can wear them and how you can wear them throughout the entire year.  This time, I paired them with a sleeveless blazer for a casual chic look.  I'm also loving the Mini M.A.C. crossbody bags in all the gorgeous colors they come in! They are the perfect size to put all your necessities in when you go out and about.  I especially love this white one which could be worn with everything.

I also want to share with y'all my absolute favorite lip color for the spring/summer: Vitality Lip Stain in 'Mauve-A-Lous Darling' by It Cosmetics.  It goes on "mauve-y" but then supposedly changes to match your skin tone.  On me, it just changes to a bright pink but I love how it stays on for SO long.

I hope you have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Freestyle Friday 3/20

1. Last week, I went to a Raleigh Blog Society event in downtown Apex, which by the way, is the cutest little town ever and I want to move there.  Ever watch Hart of Dixie? Downtown Apex reminds me of Bluebell, AL.  So quaint, charming, and colorful.  They also have some fabulous shops.  We sipped and shopped around in Moon and Lola first before walking over to Stylish Living and a few other shops.

These lavender 'Suzano' earrings caught my eye with the unique color while also being the perfect size to wear to work all day long so I ended up buying a pair.  The earring selection on their website goes on for pages and I love them all.  The staff were SO fun too and helped me decide between my favorites.

Some other Moon and Lola favorites:

I am always writing down lists of things so I picked up this adorable note pad in Stylish Living.  Stylish Living is the perfect place to stop by to find a unique gift for someone of ANY age.  They have the best candle selection, note pads of all sorts, jewelry for days, soaps, and pretty much everything.

How cute is this bird nest tray?! I put it on my nightstand to put all my smaller earrings on for now and it is the perfect addition.  This would also be a great gift for a friend.  You can never have too many trays.  I also picked up this candle but in the scent 'Paris' which smells like heaven. I'm telling you, I was obsessed with Stylish Living.  You can check them out on facebook!

Thank you to Meghan (Champagne and Suburbs) for planning such a fun night!

2. Looking at my calendar for the summer gets me really excited.  I've also decided that I am loving high-waisted bikinis this year.  I totally understand if they weird you out because at first glance they kindof resemble granny panties but once you put one on, you will fall in love too! They are so flattering on so many body types and they look so classic.
3. I've grown up listening to all sorts of music and never going a day without making time for myself to listen to some good jams.  My dad taught me 'Rock 101' on the way to school each morning and quizzed me on classic rock bands when I was little.  I love country dearly and I also like pop and R&B.  Lately though, I've been on a "Christian Rock" kick and I mean every day driving to work listening to the same pandora station.  Listen to "Casey Darnell" pandora and you can thank me later.   Listening to this music suddenly makes me feel 20x better and have a more positive outlook on everything.  Some of my favorites are:

I hope everyone has a happy Friday and a great weekend! My older sister, Kylie, her husband and kids are coming down to my parents' house this weekend so we're going to have a cookout on Saturday.  I love seeing my niece and nephew! They live in Richmond so I don't get to see them too often but when I do, it's the best time.  On Sunday, I'm celebrating Delta Gamma's Founders Day with some friends who I haven't seen in a LONG time! It's going to be a fun and busy weekend.
